Malcolm Stayner is a seasoned project manager, now based in New Zealand, who has 15 years experience in IT project management, primarily in central / local government and the health sector, since stepping out from ICL / Fujitsu in 1994. His non-confrontational but facilitative style is well suited to delicate situations where there are conflicting requirements or sensitive issues. Malcolm has progressed a number of politically-charged projects to a successful outcome. Prior to becoming independent, Malcolm worked for various IT solution providers for 17 years, in New Zealand and the UK, performing a wide variety of project management, consultancy, software development and engineering support roles after "wetting his feet" with computers with the British (General) Post Office in the early 1970s. The project above was a finalist in three categories of the 2007 Computerworld Excellence Awards: - Most Successful Project Implementation of the Year - Excellence in the Use of ICT in Government - Overall Excellence in the Use of ICT; Technical project consultancy to The Department of Internal Affairs for the development of the STV Calculator that was successfully used to count votes in the 2004 New Zealand local body and district health board elections; Project consultancy to The Department of Internal Affairs for the Formation of Government [FOG] 2002 project; Electronic Medical Record [EMR] Requirements, RFP and Evaluation for Hutt Valley District Health Board; Migration of the National Library of New Zealand Catalogue from Dynix to Voyager; Confirm Asset Management Pilot for Hutt City Council; Establishing IT infrastructure for SOE Establishment Unit - @ Work Insurance; HR Phase 2 Implementation for Capital Coast Health; Stepping in to deliver (on time) core functionality in financial and regulatory systems for Palmerston North City Council, after a 2 month delay in contract signing, due to protracted negotiations; Producing race results for Harbour Capital Half Marathon from 1986 - 2002 (a total of 17 years of service).
